The Problem
Every onsite visit in home service contains information that matters: what the customer said about their system, what the technician observed, what buying signals came up, what was promised, what needs to happen next. That context is also among the least captured data in the industry.
“Field conversations are one of the richest but least structured data sources in home services,” the Noso team explains. After the technician leaves, most of that context either disappears or gets compressed into a short CRM note written from memory at the end of a long day. Office teams have no real visibility into what happened onsite. Follow-up is based on summaries rather than substance. And coaching is guesswork.
The problem is structural. Technicians move between vans, homes, equipment rooms, attics, and basements across a full day of appointments. They use their phones for dispatch, navigation, photos, payments, and customer communication. Asking them to also manage a recording app on that same device creates friction that breaks down in practice.
For Noso, the missing piece was not just audio capture. It was a reliable, repeatable field experience that could become part of a technician's daily workflow without asking them to change how they work.
The Search
Noso evaluated a range of options before landing on Plaud. Phone-based recording was the obvious starting point. It is accessible and works well in many contexts, but the home service field environment is different enough that it fell short. Phones are already doing too many jobs during an appointment to reliably serve as a dedicated capture device.
They also looked at generic external microphones, wearable AI devices, and developer-focused hardware options including Omi. Each taught them something about what mattered most. The hardware had to feel professional enough to use in a customer's home. The recording experience had to be stable across different physical environments. The device needed to bind cleanly to a technician or workflow. And the developer integration had to be clean enough to build on quickly.

Why Plaud
In a customer's home, the physical experience of the device is not a minor detail. A recorder that feels cheap, complicated, or intrusive changes the dynamic of the appointment. Plaud's hardware quality and form factor held up in that context in a way that other options did not.
The integration path mattered just as much. Plaud's SDK and hardware API let Noso associate a device with a specific technician, capture onsite context, and feed it directly into their workflow layer. That means the conversation does not land in a generic transcription inbox. It becomes a structured input tied to a job, a customer, and a set of downstream actions.

The Outcome
With Plaud as the capture layer, Noso can take what happens during an onsite visit and turn it into outputs the business can act on: service summaries, recommended follow-ups, identified next steps, customer concerns, and workflow triggers that update records and prepare communications automatically.
For technicians, that means less time on manual documentation after a full day of appointments. For office teams, it creates real visibility into what happened at the job instead of relying on abbreviated summaries. For customers, it means faster and more accurate follow-up after the visit.

What's Next
The near-term roadmap is focused on making capture feel native to the technician's workflow: record the appointment, return to the van, find the outputs already prepared.
Over the next 6 to 12 months, the vision expands. Noso sees Plaud-powered context supporting technician coaching, service quality review, estimate preparation, CRM updates, and AI agents that help the business act on what happened in the field. The goal is to make every service visit a source of compounding intelligence.
